Kid's Christmas List

For most of you I'm sure tackling the "wish list" of our kids imagination has either been started or completed! BUT for those still working up ideas and need a little support here is what I gave my kids to use for their ideas and letter to Santa. Good Luck with those shopping crowds!

Christmas Wreath

Well I got a late start on my Christmas decorations and making of my wreath BUT it is done and hanging proudly! It was a simple make and you to can tackle this project. This wreath can be made in any color and done to your theme if you like.

Here is the supply list:

1.Wreath (I got mine at Hobby Lobby for 5.99)
2. Ribbon (purchased mine at Joanns on sale and Costco) at least 3-5 contrasting colors and wired ribbon helps)
3. Floral Wire ~ 24 gauage (Joanns or Michaels)
4. Ornaments ( I purchased mine at Dollar Tree) The hard plastic ornies are the best because you don't risk breaking them.
5. Filler stems: feathers, berries, leaves, glitter, pine cones, candy canes, etc (I got mine at Joanns and used pop of color that had glitter)
6. Letter (optional: I put my last name "letter G" in my wreath but that is personal preference. It comes in a raw wood finish. I took acrylic paints and added my own touch. Then mod podge to add glitter for the final touch)
7. Message sign (optional: found the 'tis the season sign at Dollar Tree and couldn't pass it up because it went with my theme. I just worked it into my idea!)
8. Glue Gun (placing letter or other items that can't use wire)

If you can hang your wreath with your "wreath hanger" inside while you work on it, much easier to visualize as you go. I laid out my ribbons first and kind of went from there. Just remember you can always change something if you don't like how it is coming together. Unfortunately this project wasn't planned for my blog to explain "How to" but I was so happy with it and it really was pretty easy to make that I decided that I wanted to share and encourage others to try! If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will walk you through any part! Happy Holidays to you all...

Christmas is coming...Eecckkk!

I think I have to skip Thanksgiving! Sorry...I've been working on several projects and one being my wonderful cousin Katie's birthday gift. That will come up on a later post but for now I finally got a few items on Etsy and still working on others.

I first saw this idea at Anthropologie but decided their prices were outrageous! I had to build off their idea and make something similar but with more detail and more vintage so, THIS IS what I came up with! Enjoy!

These three are already on Etsy so go take a peak! Great gift items or just buy for yourself, I won't tell! Hope everyone is enjoying this holiday time and the cool weather. I'm loving my warm sweaters and boots!

Hope you have a SPOOKTACULAR Day!

Spent 2 hours this morning in my daughter's classroom handling 4 crafts with the moms that were there to help. Kids had a blast and I came home wanting a nap! LOL Now to make sure my kid's costumes are ready for tonight and then I think my busy October is coming to a close! ((deep sigh)) I hope everyone has a safe trick or treating night out and can't wait to see pictures of everyone!

Want to get your kids to talk? Family Dinner Questions!

I've been reading American Girl books with my 8 year old daughter and it is promoting and challenging lot's of questions from myself and from her. I don't feel totally prepared and realized I don't always know or give credit to what my kids are thinking! Here are 30 questions that encourage family talk! Take these 30 questions or trivia that you can cut into strips and put into a jar. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. Could be something your kids made or just a kitchen container. Each night at dinner time pull out one question and read it to the family. Some are silly and some are serious. Get to know each other better and smile as you create memories with your loved ones!

Next week I'll give out another set of questions, so come back for another link in next week's post!!!

Halloween Already

October really wasn't ever here, I feel. So much has happened this month that I blinked and its already two weeks until November! So when my daughter asked me in her so charming way "Mom can we decorate for Hallo (as she calls it)". I really couldn't say no but needed a project that I could tackle in a short amount of time. Soooo, I took my entry table and turned into our "scary candy bar". It really was a mom and daughter tag team effort which all in all was the best part. She was totally into it until half way through glittering this little guy or should I say his "head". We made him out of paper mache, used foam brush, lot's of Aleene's decoupage matte glue, and our choice was orange glitter. Messy but fun to make and the spider was a last minute hot glue add. Everything else was a collection of things around the house and leftover Halloween from 2010. We did pick up fall colored candy and eyeballs aka gumballs for our apothecary jars. We did use our Michael's coupon and bought a 9" plastic pumpkin, sprayed it black and added black fine glitter.

Successful Week...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSAN
Along with preparing for my girlfriend's birthday weekend, I was able to set up and get my loft somewhat ready for me to work in.  It always helps having company "self-motivator" to get stuff done...LOL Anyway, I think my loft will be my new favorite hang out spot! Here is a few views I have from my sewing chair.
I squeezed every bit of fabric I could into this bookcase! I could use more space BUT I'm trying really hard to simplify so I made it fit and let go of a few things. The picture below is more the "scrapbooking" side. I try to keep my projects separate but really I use a blend of things for both. I'm starting to feel organized. Who wants to come over FIRST and craft?!?! :-)

Pinterest Addiction!

So if I could get away long enough from Pinterest I could get my craft room done and start making post to my blog for sharing...Hi everyone! I'm slowly getting back into all my goodies and unpacking all my craft room after moving a year ago. Is that bad or what. My set up is completely different and I know I should feel blessed for even still having a space to work in, as I know many of you don't! I've taken a lot of thought and tried to plan out what I was going to do. I've drawn inspiration from other creative people on how I was going to best use up my loft....to be continued :) Kerry's Blog is cute ideas. Love looking at others rooms. Some people have amazing talent for making something out of nothing to store, decorate or build out of! Awesome...

Here is my pile of fabrics that I unloaded to my couch BUT they have a new home. Quick trip to Ikea today and by tomorrow hopefully they will be tucked away. My project for the day was a buy from Michael's for 40% off was their line of scrapbook storage. Bought the three drawer cube (have to put it together yourself, easy). Then separately from same line bought the peg board with hooks and put them on the sides. Super cool to organize scissors, ribbon, rotary cutters, rulers, etc etc. Then when I was at Ikea today I got this idea when I went by this lazy susan. tah dah....NOW I can reach it from all sides of my sewing/cutting table. Didn't take up much more of my space and I don't have to lean over to reach it now! Happy GIRL!
